Paint, Preparation & Finish Advice

What Photos Should You Send For A Decorating Quote?

Good photos help you get a faster, more accurate estimate. Here's exactly what to send.

Quick answer

What photos should I send for a decorating quote?

Send wide photos of each whole room or elevation, close-up photos of any damage, and clear images of ceilings, walls and woodwork. For exteriors, include every elevation and any access details. Add your postcode, a short description of the work and your ideal timescale.

A short set of clear photos is often enough for us to give you meaningful guidance without a site visit. Here's what actually helps.

Whole room photos

Stand in each corner of the room and take one wide photo. Four wide shots per room shows scale, light and layout far better than close-ups alone.

Close-up photos of any damage

Cracks, dents, stains, peeling paint, blown plaster or old repairs are exactly what we need to see to give an accurate view of preparation.

Walls, ceilings and woodwork

Photograph ceilings straight up and woodwork (skirting, architraves, doors, radiators) close enough to see condition. These are often the biggest variables in a quote.

Exterior elevations

For exterior work, one photo of each elevation and close-ups of any obvious failing paint, timber or render damage.

Access photos

For exteriors, bay windows, tall stairwells and communal areas, a wide shot showing access — gardens, drives, gates or hallways — helps us plan properly.

Upload up to six photos, add your postcode and a short brief. We'll come back with clear next steps.

Stairwells and communal areas

For blocks and communal areas: entrance lobby, each landing, stair flights, ceilings, corridor walls, doors and handrails.

Postcode, timescale and occupancy

Include your postcode, when you'd like the work done and whether the property is occupied, empty or being let. This has a real effect on how we plan the job.

Commercial clients

For commercial or block management enquiries, please send photos, drawings and any schedule of works or specifications you already have.

When a site visit is still needed

Photos are enough for many enquiries but not all. Complex exteriors, large phased works and specialist finishes usually still need a site visit — the photos help us confirm whether that's necessary.
