What's involved.
Original sash windows are repairable rather than replaceable in almost every case. The expensive part isn't the wood — it's the labour to strip, splice, re-putty and re-paint properly.
We use Repaircare for structural timber repair (load-bearing, paintable, decades-long) and Sikkens for topcoats. A correctly restored sash typically runs 10–12+ years before next overhaul.
