What's involved.
Spraying a staircase is one of the biggest visible upgrades in the house but it lives or dies on containment. Done properly there's no mist on adjacent walls and no mess on the floor; done badly it's a catastrophe.
We build floor-to-ceiling masking around the entire flight and use HVLP for control. Spindles look like furniture, not lumpy painted timber.

How the work runs.
Containment
Floor-to-ceiling mask, dust extraction, doors sealed.
Prep
Sanded back through grits, adhesion primed.
Spray
Two to three coats with denib between, HVLP for control.
De-mask
Mask down, full clean, snag walked.

Will paint mist get on my walls?+
No — full containment from floor to ceiling, plus HVLP control, plus filtered extraction. Done correctly there's no migration.
Can the stairs be used during the job?+
Carefully, yes. We work in halves so there's always a usable route up and down.
Spray stringer too?+
Yes — stringer, newels, spindles and handrail are all sprayed together for an even finish.
