Four Oaks Painting & Decorating was commissioned to transform the hallway, staircase and first-floor landing of this Sutton Coldfield family home with bespoke wall panelling and a full redecoration.
The property had fantastic proportions and original features but the entrance was tired, marked and ready for a complete refresh. The homeowners wanted a space that felt brighter, more elegant and full of character — while keeping a timeless look that would sit comfortably with the rest of the home.
Hallways and staircases are some of the most demanding areas to decorate. Careful preparation, accurate panelling installation and clean protection throughout were essential to delivering the finish the homeowners were looking for.

Filling, Caulking & Prep
Every joint, mitre and fixing hole was filled and refined, with precision caulking used to give crisp panel lines. Walls were made good, imperfections repaired and surfaces prepared before priming.

Sanding with Dust Extraction
Woodwork, panelling and the staircase balustrade were sanded back using dust-extracted equipment to keep the home clean and produce a smooth, sprayable-quality surface for the paint system.

Detail Preparation
Old fixings and legacy metalwork were removed and made good so the finished walls, panels and woodwork could read as one clean, uninterrupted surface.

Wall & Ceiling Decoration
Walls and ceilings were repainted in a warm neutral, brightening the whole space and providing the perfect backdrop for the blush panelling and crisp white woodwork.

Panelling Finish
Panels, mouldings and framework were carefully finished in a soft blush eggshell, cutting in cleanly against the neutral walls and white woodwork for a modern yet timeless look.

Every wall and woodwork surface was thoroughly prepared before decoration began. Marks, dents and years of everyday wear were filled, sanded and repaired, and existing timber was cleaned back and made ready to take a new paint system. Floors, the staircase and surrounding areas were fully protected for the duration of the works.

Bespoke decorative panelling was set out and installed throughout the hallway, stairs and landing, with precision caulking used to give crisp, clean panel lines. Walls were finished in a warm neutral, panels in a soft blush and woodwork, skirting, mouldings and the staircase balustrade in a crisp white — a modern yet timeless scheme that suits a traditional family home.
